Sunil-Children in mind 

My name is Dr Sunil Pulapaka and I’m a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist. I have over 18 years of knowledge, experience of a specialist training to assessment, diagnose and treat children and adolescents who are experiencing mental health challenges and difficulties.

I am a member of the Royal College of Psychiatry, MDU, and British Medical Council.

My current role in the NHS is consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist for a neurodiversity and neuro disability service.  I am the clinical lead for the department. I am an expert panel member at national level where I advise and develop governance processes and implementation of new initiatives to improve mental health services for children and adolescents.

I’m very keen on assisting children and adolescents to manage complex mental health issues in their lives and overcoming them to enable them to live successful and fulfilled lives. I work with a child’s family/carers in mind and will keep them included and informed throughout an intervention. I work from a child centred perspective and my goal is to advocate, improve, and enhance the lives of children I assess and provide treatment for.

I work in a multi agency disciplinary framework and will consult and inform others of the care and treatment I am providing. I will discuss information sharing with you.

My specialist area of practice is neurodiversity and neuro disability(Autism, ADHD & TICS) and other conditions. I am trained in 3DI, DISCO, and ADOS tools for assessment of ASC.

I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of different presentations of Child and Adolescent Mental health including but not  limited to; Anxiety, Depression, OCD, Eating Disorders, Social Anxiety, and identifying Early Onset of Psychosis. I have extensive experience working in collaboration with local services regarding looked after children and identifying and treating complexities such as Attachment Disorders, Post-traumatic Stress Disorders, and Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. I work alongside  paediatric colleagues to globally understand and support infants, children, adolescents and their families.

I am an educational supervisor for Health Education Improvement  Wales (HEIW). I am passionate about teaching medical students, Registrars, Clinical Nurse specialists, Advanced Pharmacist Prescribers and various other disciplines. I’m passionate about the advancement and expanding the knowledge of child psychiatry and regularly attend workshops and have been a guest speaker at events. I provide support to the royal college of psychiatry and work as an examiner for doctors in training.

I routinely review my practice and have regular supervision as required by my professional registration.
