The service at Children In Mind has seen some developments over the last quarter. Dr Sunil Pulapaka has a special interest in the future of services with a focus on workforce development in relation to implementation, strategy and quality.
Dr Sunil Pulapaka will be instrumental with working with doctor clinical training establishments where he will be liaising directly with doctors in training. The landscape and issues surrounding doctors in training, resident doctors, and developing robust training pathways, structures and processes for the future so services and the profession are sustained and protected for the future.
Dr Sunil will be making direct contact with doctors in training, listening to the challenges and enabling resolutions to the concerns regarding training and career development. These issues and challenges will be reported and turned into actionable interventions so work with the future in mind can be implemented for sustainability.
Gary has been liaising with many community and inpatient services. He has been hearing directly from patients who have used mental health services about their experiences of services. These experiences inform our clinical practice for the here and now and develop into the short, medium and long term service strategy. This also informs and develops our governance oversight and assurance processes which are regularly reviewed and monitored.
The service keeps updated with the national policy, legislation and strategy and ensure key points of legislation and guidance are turned into actionable focused items. These are reviewed and monitored in the service quality assurance committee.
Listening, Learning, Leading
The Children In Mind service is a very proactive service where we integrate with networks around children and families. We are very interested in the wide approach to child mental health whilst meeting the individual needs of a child and young person.
The Children In Mind team does not work in isolation and we are inclusive with other services. We advocate and provide a supportive function for children, young people and families. We tailor services to individual needs. We hold a quality focus on all our work.
Training, Quality and Compassionate Care
We produce comprehensive reports, updates and respond to queries/concerns promptly. We have received several compliments over the last quarter. We hold a quarterly quality assurance committee meeting for the service.
The service has been delivering assessment, diagnosis and interventions. We have been delivering a range of psychological services which has involved regular EMDR and ongoing consistent psychological interventions. We can provide short term, medium term and longer term interventions. We deliver on our obligations, values and our duty of care to children, young people and families.
We have provided low intensive services and high intensive services as we always want to provide services that meet the needs of children, young people and families. We do not provide a generalised approach and ensure we have developed treatments plans and interventions that reflect this which are reviewed regularly.
Holding Children in Mind
Over the last quarter we have been assessing children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorder, ADHD, Autism, Depression, Anxiety, OCD and PTSD. We are a service that operates a trauma informed approach and all clinicians are experts in the field of child mental health, psychiatry and psychological treatments/interventions.
All clinicians have over 20 years experience of working in CAMHS services in many different settings and departments. All clinicians have been clinical leads for departments and we are quality focused and hold children in mind.
