At the Children In Mind service, we have been busy reviewing our processes and policies in the service.
We have also been busy seeing children, young people and families face to face and have been able to respond promptly.
We would like to welcome Paul Kelly, a systemic family psychotherapist, to the service. Paul is an invaluable clinician to the service and has extensive experience working in adult and child mental health services. Paul is highly thoughtful and provides sensitivity and flexibility with his approaches, and he always holds the needs of his patients in mind. Paul is skilled in supporting parents/carers to navigate their challenges and he works with wider networks supporting children and families.
At Children In Mind we continue to deliver holistic assessments. All our neurodevelopmental assessments (ADHD and Autism) include a general psychiatric assessment as we see this as an important part of the assessment.
Where we can, we always try and keep the costs of our services low and we fully understand the costs of living and the impact on families.
This month is a busy month for the service as Sunil is back on the road at a conference in Liverpool, where he is an expert speaker for ADHD and sleep issues. Gary has been continuing to link in with other services and expanding the profile of the service and continuing to develop the service network. We strongly believe that collaborative working is an essential aspect of delivering child and adolescent mental health services.
We have been providing services in our clinical rooms, remotely and we have been undertaking home visits. We are considerate of people deciding how they would like to be seen and we can provide services in the evenings and weekends.
We continue to see patients in all our locations in Cheltenham, Stroud and Gloucester. We can arrange appointments with little notice at times and will always try to be flexible and resourceful.
We have been undertaking assessments for childhood depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, complex trauma and applying both medical and psychological services to support children and young people. As a service we see people as survivors of traumatic events/situations and provide services to facilitate recovery with sensitivity.
The service can also support children and young people who are transgender and we understand the complexities and challenges surrounding these challenges and difficulties.
